Lydia Coffey. Wife. Mother. Educator. Artist. Civil servant. Neighbor. Christian.
Candidate for Kentucky House Representative, District 54
Perhaps she served you a slice of the world’s largest apple pie she helped bake for the Casey County Apple Festival, or you saw her singing in the church choir. Maybe she even taught your children during her twenty-seven-year career in the Casey County School District.
Regardless of the circumstances, Lydia Coffey has dedicated her life to creating opportunities for others. Now she’s ready to create those opportunities for Boyle and Casey counties and for Kentucky as the State Representative for House District 54.
Deeply embedded in the community, Lydia has led numerous organizations including several stints as chairwoman of the Educational Professional Standards Board and vice chair of the Casey County Habitat for Humanity. Lydia has also been a long-standing mentor of the local dramatic art programs and currently serves as vice chair for the Casey County Community Theater Board. Never one to be idle, she is always looking to help the next person or cause.
Among her many passions, Lydia shares her favorite moments with her husband Jim and their daughter Meredith. For Lydia happiness starts at home and spreads.
It is through her experience as an educator and a leader within the community that Lydia learned one of the most important values: the power of collaboration. “As teachers, we are always looking to get the best out of our students. To make their lives better, we teach them how to collaborate, and we also work together to develop effective solutions and create desired results.” It is this knowledge that Lydia hopes to share in Frankfort. Her teaching experience also led her to spend 11 years serving as a Y-Club Sponsor for the Casey County School District. In this role, she educated students on the Legislative process, analytical thinking and productive debate. Ultimately, it was Lydia's involvement in the Y Club that sparked her own ambitions to stand up for regular Kentuckians in Frankfort.
Lydia’s passion and dedication to her community will serve Kentucky well. Besides advocating for education, Lydia is fighting for public education, quality affordable healthcare, solutions to the opioid crisis, good-paying jobs for Kentucky workers, and a fair tax code where the wealthy pay their fair share.
The residents of the commonwealth have spent far too long looking backwards. The residents of the 54th District deserve a respresentative that will listen and be a voice for them. Kentuckians deserve a better future, and more importantly, a better now.
Lydia Coffey is here to serve you.
